Late HRA B Meet Recap, a Fun-filled (and Full) Friday, and Our Upcoming Schedule

Hey everyone! Sorry for the very late email recapping the B Meet on Monday and setting out the week, but we’ve been pulled in multiple directions this week and things just go away from us!

Monday’s meet with Holmes Run was yet another rousing success that ended early enough to have another dance party on the deck (with *lots of Holmes Run swimmers joining in)! There were a HUGE number of time drops and some first swims for Middies that are ready to move up to swimming with the 8&U Destroyers group - great work by Kinsley Kasman, Angelica El-Yussif, and Evelyn Saulsbury (who also became a big sister for the second time just the day before) for taking the plunge in a meet for the first time!

We also said goodbye to one of our “veteran” families on Monday night, as the Beighs left for their new adventure at West Point. We’ll miss Jack, Claire, Kathy, and Matt a ton, but we’re already counting the days until they move back in a few years (fingers crossed)!

Friday Fun Relays, Breakfast, and Ice Cream Social!

Tomorrow morning is our Destroyers full-team relay day! Middies will practice at their normal 7:45 practice time with breakfast afterwards, with all Destroyers having a Friday morning full of team-building relay fun! Practice will run from 8:30-9:30 with breakfast to follow. Huge thanks to all of our families who have signed up to provide breakfast for the kids!.

This week's pep rally is our annual Ice Cream Social! We’ll be providing make-your-own sundaes for $2/scoop with all the toppings you could want (all are invited to attend, so spread the word to your non-BKS friends!). Following this, we will begin the most anticipated event of the season, during which the swimmers get to make the coaches into human sundaes!

A Meet (Home) v. Country Club Hills: Saturday, July 4

We’ll be swimming in our first home A Meet of the season this Saturday against Country Club Hills. The meet will start at 9:00 am, with warmups starting at 8:00 am.

Given that this meet is falling on the 250th anniversary of the founding of our country, this will be our Red, White, and Blue meet. We want to put on a real show for our guests, so we’d love it if everyone - swimmers, parents, siblings and friends - come decked out in their most over-the-top patriotic gear to celebrate the Fourth of July! We’ll be sending out the meet sheet and any follow-up info later tomorrow.

Meet setup will be handled by families of the 15-18 age group families beginning when the pool closes at 8:30 pm. Attendance for setup has been sparse recently, so we’re asking that families come out to help set up since things go much more quickly when lots of families are involved.

Meet tear down will be the responsibility of the 11-12 age group families.

B Meet (Away) at Lake Braddock: Monday, July 6

Our next B Meet will be with our close friends, Lake Braddock, at their pool on Ashbourn Drive in the Lake Braddock community. We’ll send more info over the weekend, but please remember to declare your swimmers for the meet and choose the strokes that they’ll be swimming. If they’re swimming this weekend, wait until after the meet so you know if they’ll be limited to strokes in which they didn’t earn points!

Division Relay Carnival: Wednesday, July 8

If you haven’t already, please declare your swimmers’ availability for next week’s Relay Carnival as soon as possible. Entries are due on Tuesday and the coaches want to make sure they can set the lineups in good time and not have to chase anyone down for their declarations!
