Volunteer Sign-Ups and Meet Declarations for 2026

It’s time to sign up for meets! You can sign up for Volunteer Slots and make meet declarations for swimmers starting Friday, June 5 at 8:00 am.

What Can I Volunteer for?

We have on-deck slots for all meets, home and away. This is another plug for NVSL officials training! The remaining dates are here on our website. If you have done the NVSL training for the first time, please email us. We create a schedule for our officials so there will not be sign up slots if you did the training.

For home meets, we also have our fabulous concessions crew that needs your help.

Volunteer Requirements

For 2026, the requirement will be 7 slots for Destroyer families and 4 slots for Middies families. This does not include Divisionals as that is an all-hands-on-deck meet. If there are families in need of slots, we will make sure they get placed in a position at Divisionals. If you think you may have difficulty meeting the above requirements, please reach out to the Team Reps as soon as possible.

  • Volunteers Slots open June 5 at 8:00 am
    • Sign-ups open for all meets (except Relay Carnival and Divisionals) on 6/5.
    • Instructions for signing up are here.
    • Please only sign up for 7 slots per family (4 for Middies) initially. We want to make sure that all families have a chance at spots. If we are in need of positions, we will send out an email 2-3 days prior to a meet asking for anyone to step in and help.
    • If you have questions, please email us or ask at practice.
  • Meet Declarations
    • All meets will open for swimmer sign-up on June 5
    • Declarations are simply confirmations that your swimmer will be available to swim in that meet
    • Time Trials: Please declare if your swimmer will be attending by 6/12 at 7:00 pm
      • Each swimmer will swim each stroke at Time Trials. The coaches will determine if a swimmer will swim all the strokes (e.g., some swimmers may not be ready for the Butterfly).
    • Instructions for signing up for A Meets can be found here
      • Make sure your swimmers are declared by 8:00 am the Wednesday prior to the meet. Please don’t make us track you down for your declaration, please and thank you!
      • Coaches will set the Saturday A Meet lineup on Wednesdays after practice. Swimmers will be notified at Thursday morning practice if they will be swimming in that week’s A Meet.
    • Instructions for B Meets can be found here
      • B Meets are open to all Destroyers. Coach Adrian will speak with any Middies swimmer’s parents about when to sign up to try an event.
      • Reminder that a swimmer cannot swim any event in the B Meet if they placed (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) at the preceding A Meet. Therefore, it may be best to wait until after the A Meet to choose your swimmer’s events.
    • We will send out weekly reminders to sign up for both meets
    • For Relay Carnival and IM Carnival, please declare if your swimmer is available on that date; this will help with long-term planning. More information on those meets will come out at a later time.

If you have questions about any of the above, please ask us. We know that for our new families (and many of our returning families!) this can be a bit confusing as you come to grips with the summer swim season. We are more than happy to help walk you through the process.

Thanks!

Deirdre, Matt & Mike
