Happy Memorial Day, everyone! It was great to see so many of you at the pool yesterday. The kids had a great time, and few brave parents decided to go for a dip to see what the water was *really* like (it wasn't terrible, to be honest!).

As we gear up for the first week of practice, we wanted to send out a couple reminders that will also help get us ready for the season.

Communications - SwimTopia App

As mentioned at the Parents Meeting, we'd like everyone to download the SwimTopia app so that we can send timely reminders and alerts during the season. We use the alerts functionality primarily for weather-related updates, but we'll also use it for other updates, as needed. Yes...it's yet another app you need to download, but it will be really helpful as things get busy during the season.

Weather

With the weather early this week being a little iffy, we want to be sure that we can keep you all up to date if the coaches and reps decide to adjust or cancel any practices. We want to get the team in the pool, but we're going to make decisions based first on the swimmers' safety, while limiting changes can potentially disrupt to families' plans. We'll send SwimTopia alerts and will follow with emails to reach the widest audience; however, we'd like to solely use the alerts functionality as we get into the season.

NVSL Officials Clinics

Just another reminder of our need for meet officials! This weekend is NVSL University at the Fairfax County Government Center (all of the certification trainings will be offered), but there are plenty of other options for becoming (re)certified as either Stroke & Turn Judge, Starter, or Referee (see the NVSL's clinic schedule). Even if you're on the fence about being an official, please consider attending a clinic and getting certified so that you don't miss the opportunity should you decide later on that you'd like to help out.

After the long offseason, it's great that our summer season is finally here. If we don't see you at the pool today, we'll hopefully see you all tomorrow!
