2026 Burke Station Swim Team Summer Registration Is Open!
Hello, Burke Station Families!!
Wow…what a day to be sending this email! The sun is ready to bust out, the snow is melted, and allergies are in full swing…so that can only mean one thing: Registration for summer 2026 is now open!
For those who haven't heard, we will be swimming in Division 13 again this summer! We had an incredibly competitive season in 2025, and this seeding reflects how close all of last season’s meets were, from Week 1 to Week 5. The other teams in our division are Lincolnia Park, Somerset-Olde Creek, Country Club Hills, Poplar Tree, and Brookfield. It’s going to be an exhilarating summer in the pool and another incredibly fun one outside of it!
Coach Kelly Hanik will be returning to lead our wonderful coaching staff. We will reveal our full staff in April.
After careful consideration, we've made a name change to our Transition Group. We’ve stuck with the nautical theme of our team name and renamed them the Midshipmen, aka the Middies (apologies to all of our Army and Air Force families!).
Our Juniors schedule is also set, so any returning or prospective Juniors families can also register at this time!
As we did last year, we will be providing all registered swimmers with a FREE BKS t-shirt!! This offer is guaranteed for all swimmers who register by Monday, May 18. For those registering after that date, a free t-shirt will still be provided but sizing options will be limited. Please follow the instructions in the registration page to place a shirt order for your swimmer(s).
If you still have a BKS Family yard sign, it’s time to put it out again! We still have some signs available, so if you don’t have one but would like one, let us know and we would be more than happy to drop it off to you.
Our full schedule is now on the website, but some quick highlights are:
- May 16 – BKS Parents Meeting at Burke Station Swim Club (BSSC)
- May 26 – First practice (afternoon)
- June 13 – Time trials (at BSSC)
- June 15 – First B Meet (at BSSC vs. Parliament)
- June 18 – First morning practice
- June 20 – First A Meet (at Lincolnia Park)
- July 25 – Divisionals (at Burke Station) and End-of-Season Party
As you can see above, we have once again been graced with hosting Divisionals…for the fourth straight year! As always, this will be a big party (followed by a bigger party that evening) and we’ll need all hands on deck to make it happen!
The Parents Meeting will be at 6:30 pm on Saturday, May 16. The Swim Club Prep Day will occur earlier in the day, so if you can spare a couple hours to help tidy up our pool, the Board would really appreciate it!
Team Suit information is available on our website. Price information will be updated soon. Click here.
The Officials Training schedule has been released by NVSL. Please consult the schedule on our website and plan accordingly. Clinics are only 2 hours long. Be on the lookout for a separate email later in the month with more details about officials and training.
IMPORTANT!! We love referrals from our current families, so please forward this email to any friends, neighbors, or family members who may be interested in joining our team! If you or any prospective families have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected]!
Our social media presence has expanded. We are now on Instagram and have a new Facebook page. Shoutout to Ben & Grace Spainhour for taking on the role of social media coordinators!
Finally…this is just another reminder that all BKS swimmers must be members of Burke Station Swim Club. BSSC is an open pool and memberships are available on the BSSC website starting March 15, but you can register for the team before BSSC memberships become available.
We’re looking forward to sharing some traveling tacos, dancing the Cupid Shuffle, and experiencing those late Monday nights with all of you this summer. We can’t wait!
- Deirdre, Mike, and Matt
