Camelot B Meet Recap, a Busy Week Ahead, and the End of the Season Is Near!

Happy Tuesday afternoon, Burke Station families! Hope it’s been a good one so far!

Last night’s B meet with Camelot was one for the record books. And by that, we mean that we have NEVER finished a meet with Camelot so quickly! Sometimes we have issues even finishing in time for a dance party afterwards, but last night we got three dances in and there was *still* light in the sky! Full credit to all the kids who swam with few DQs and to our new Referee for taking charge and getting us through it!

Speaking of swimmers, we had plenty of first-timers swim last night! We had a whole crew of Juniors and Transition swimmers who completed the deep-end dash, as well a few swimmers who got their first official 25M times. Big congratulations to Grace Hughes (Girls 6&U Freestyle), Walker Whitney (Boys 6&U Freestyle), and Luke Angstadt (Boys 6&U Freestyle and Backstroke) for absolutely crushing their heats as some of our youngest swimmers!

The meet results are attached to this email.

Friday BKS Breakfast and Pizza Party/Car Decorating Pep Rally at BSSC

We still have two slots open for 13-18s breakfast, along with slots for juices for 13-18s. Help keep these famished children from using up the last bit of their available energy by heading over to theBKS Breakfast SignUp Geniusand signing up!

Our final pep rally of the season is this Friday at 6:00 at BSSC! This time, it’s a pizza party plus car decorating in preparation for our ride to Fox Mill Woods on Saturday morning. Pizza is $5 all-you-can-eat per person! We would love for everyone to pre-order on the website here so we can have plenty for everyone. We’ll provide the supplies for decorating cars, so come prepared!

IM Carnival at BSSC: Thursday, July 10

We’re all set for IM Carnival on Thursday. Thank you to everyone for declaring your swimmers, which has helped Ali set our lineup. The other teams will be sending in their lineups and we’re getting everything ready for what we expect will be a thrilling meet! We’ll send the meet sheet once it’s been finalized.

Volunteer slots are all filled - thank you to everyone who is pitching in to help run the meet!

The theme of the meet is Rodeo, so saddle up! It’s time to bring the Wild West to the pool - dust off your cowboy hats, bandanas, and denim (just keep the spurs and lassos at home) and show up in your best rodeo-inspired gear!

We are asking that all families with swimmers in the meet assist us with setup when the pool closes at 4:30 pm (our warmups start at 5:10 pm) and tear down. With everyone pitching in, both should go really quickly!

A Meet at Fox Mill Woods: Saturday, July 12

It’s honestly hard to believe that we’re in the final week of dual meets and that our final A Meet of the season is already here. Thank you to everyone for declaring your swimmers in time for the coaches’ meeting this morning to set the lineup. It’s a super busy week, so they wanted to get this done earlier than usual.

As always, we’d love to see you all show up in the most vibrant BKS Blue and Gold, with faces and bodies painted on saturday. Let's showcase our incredible BKS spirit to Fox Mill Woods!

We still have the Team Wrangler slot available for anyone needing a volunteer job. You must be ready to deal with chaos and be loud to get the children’s attention.

The meet will start at 9:00 am, with warmups starting at 8:20 am. We’ll follow up later in the week with a meet sheet and more details.

We’ll be having a post-meet lunch at Glory Days in the Fox Mill Shopping Center (2567 John Milton Drive), which is just a few minutes away from Fox Mill Woods. Thank you to Heather Rose-Glowacki for setting this up! Please indicate your interest via the BKS Team Lunch Interest form by Friday afternoon so that we can let Glory Days know how many people they can expect.

Destroyers of the Week

Congratulations to last week's Destroyers of the Week: John Cunningham and Ellie Cunningham! John and Ellie have shown the coaches some serious work ethic to go with their positive attitudes throughout the season so far. They both seek feedback from the coaches and rise to any challenges that are presented to them (swimming new strokes, swimming, up, etc.). Thanks for setting such great examples for the rest of the team, John and Ellie!

Lollipop Meet Tie-Dye

All 8&Unders (including Destroyers, Transition, and Juniors) will receive a Lollipop Meet T-Shirt. We will be tie-dying these shirts on Tuesday after their respective practices. Instructors will do their shirts after their own practice session. We will provide everything - just plan in the extra time. A detailed email on Lollipop Meet will be out later this week.

Winter Swim Program

We have submitted our preferences for winter swim lanes and should find by the end of the month which days/times that we will have. We expect to have plenty of spots available and we’ll send out a targeted email to all interested families once registration is open. If you haven’t already, please let us know on the Winter Interest form if you have any swimmers interested in joining us and we’ll add you to the list. Of course, if you know any non-BKS families interested in joining us, please forward them the link and/or have them reach out to us!

Have a great rest of the evening and we’ll see you on the deck tomorrow!

- Deirdre, Mike, and Matt
