Rolling Forest Meet Debrief, Lake Braddock B Meet Details, and Team Pictures

Happy Sunday, Burke Station families…and Happy Father’s Day to all our BKS dads!

We had a phenomenal start to our A Meet season yesterday. While we came out just on the wrong end of a 212-208 scoreline, we put up a heck of a fight and more than proved that we belong in Division 13! We had some serious time drops among all age groups, which we expect will continue throughout the season!

Congratulations are in order for Joey Hanik, who set his fourth record of the season, this time in the 8&U Breaststroke. Joey swam a 22.37 to break the 45-year-old record by over a full second!

We also wanted to take the time to recognize four of our 8&Under swimmers who made their A Meet debuts and made big contributions to the team yesterday - fantastic swimming by Charlotte Bateson, Will Hughes, Charli Beegle, and Jack Beigh! We also had BKS A Meet debuts for Charlotte Williams, John Cunningham, Collin Johnson, George Verigan, Andi Beegle, Chase Johnson, Oscar St. Louis, Elias Anteneh, Caden Johnson, Cameron Khani, and Coach Charlie St. Louis. That’s an astounding number of new names on our meet sheet and we couldn’t be prouder of the effort they put in!

We’ve attached the final meet results to this email.

B Meet Monday, June 17, Lake Braddock (at Burke Station)

We are swimming at home against Lake Braddock tomorrow night at 6:00 pm. This is another meet against a lot of swimmers that we know well from school and other activities, so it’s always a great time!

Our warmups will begin at 5:00. Please arrive by 4:50 so that your swimmers are ready to go.

The meet theme is PAJAMA NIGHT. Come in your coziest jammies!

Event Sign-up: Please declare swimmers by Monday, June 16 at 8:00 am. Swimmers can sign up for 2 events AND the IM. As a reminder, swimmers cannot swim in an event in which they placed first, second, or third in at the A Meet yesterday (see attached meet results if you are unsure of your places). Instructions on How to Sign-Up.

The IM is scheduled to take place in the middle of the meet.

Weather Details: The weather is looking cool and showery, but hopefully there’s no heavy rain or thunder. If the unexpected occurs, we will communicate weather delays via the SwimTopia app. Please make sure your swimmers have warm clothes and towels as the air temperatures will be chillier than normal.

Volunteers: We still need one more timer. Please sign up on the website.

Volunteers please arrive ON TIME for your shifts. If you are going to be late, please let us know so we can find someone to step in. Many positions (especially at a home meet) are time sensitive and start before warm-ups. Please make sure to double check your start time.

On Deck officials should come in white top/blue bottoms. Rain Gear may be any color.

Meet Setup/Tear Down: Our 8&Under families will be responsible for meet setup (starting at 4:30 pm). Age 11-12 swimmer families will handle tear down after the meet. Both setup and tear down will happen quickly if we get all families out to help!

The schedule for setup and tear down for the season is available on the meet setup/tear down page on the team website.

Picture Day Wednesday, June 18 at 8:00 am

Swimmers should arrive in their team suit (or an appropriate suit if they do not have a team suit) with hair done. Please look for a separate email with information and ordering instructions.

There is no practice on Wednesday. The Juniors session has been moved to Friday.

A Meet Declaration Reminder

Please be sure to declare your swimmers’ availability for next Saturday’s HOME A Meet against Holmes Run by Wednesday morning at 8:00 am. The coaches will be meeting on Wednesday afternoon and they need declarations so they can set the lineup at that time.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

- Deirdre, Mike, and Matt
