BKS Registration, Parents' Meeting, and More!
Hey everyone! With the beautiful weather and the pool glistening, it’s starting to feel like the season is just around the corner…and it actually is because we’re less than four weeks until our first outdoor practice!
(Juniors-only families: Your practices don't start until June, but please feel free to read on if you'd like to see what's happening with "the big team.")
Registration Reminder
Have you registered yet? If no, what are you waiting for? We'd really appreciate if you would register as soon as possible so we have a clearer idea of numbers for shirts and gear and most importantly for the coaching staff. Coach Kelly is already working up practices and would love to have a better idea of numbers for each age group.
Also…be sure to bug any friends and neighbors to join the team if they’re looking for an incredible time this summer. There’s nothing like having personal recommendations to bring new families into our team!
Parents’ Meeting
Yes…the Parents’ Meeting is only a couple weeks away! Below are the details, just in case it fell off your radar:
When: Saturday, May 17 from 6:30-7:30 pm
Where: BSCA Community Room
What: We’ll be introducing our coaching staff and Team Reps and talking about our goals for the season (hint: they include fun), our schedule, volunteer info, and much more…and yes, we have a slide deck to make it even more engaging! The kids will be outside with Coach Andrew, Coach Charlie, Coach Adrian, and Coach Eric.
Oh…we’ll also have Kona Ice there to help cool everyone off!
Gear Exchange
If you have any older gear that you’d like to make available to other swimmers, please bring it to the Parents’ Meeting on May 17 so that other members of the team may get some use out of it. This can be anything from fins to goggles to suits and anything in between. There are plenty of younger swimmers who could make great use of the gear their older friends make available to them! Anything left over will be used for the team equipment bins or donated to a local program for getting underprivileged kids into the water.
Suits and Caps
You can find info on the 2025 swim suits on our site at https://burkestation.swimtopia.com/team-suit. Metro Swim Shop will be at the Parents’ Meeting for fittings, but feel free to stop by beforehand for a fitting and to purchase other items that you might need (Metro provides a BKS discount on most merchandise). Purchasing beforehand is preferable in order to avoid any possible inventory issues.
Our new caps are available for purchase at our team store at https://burkestation.swimtopia.com/shop. While there, you can also pay for the bowling pep rally at Bowl America which will take place before our first meet!
NVSL Training
Do you want a front-row seat to all of the action in the water? Please consider being an on-deck official. These require NVSL training in advance of the meets which last only 2 hours every other year (NVSL TRAINING SCHEDULE - CLICK HERE). As soon as the NVSL’s officials training registration site is open, we will send that out.
Are you a current official and not sure if you require recertification this season? If you are looking to become a Starter or Referee, please make sure to read the requirements on the NVSL site. We require two Stroke & Turn judges for every meet, so even though it looks like we have plenty at the current time, people are not always available. Please consider volunteering as a Stroke & Turn judge this season to help make sure we’re covered for each meet.
Our volunteers are so important to us. Thank you to everyone for taking these trainings and becoming NVSL-certified officials.
Burke Station Family Lawn Signs
We still have quite a few of our new Burke Station Swim Team Family lawn signs available for Juniors, Transition, or Destroyers families who want one. They’re completely free and we’d love to have as many on display as possible. Just let us know and we’d be happy to drop one off at your house!
We can’t wait to see you all in just a couple weeks…and we’ll start ramping up communications as we get closer to the season, so don’t mark us as spam just yet!
- Deirdre, Mike, and Matt
