IM Carnival, Final A Meet, and Upcoming Events

July 11th

Hey everyone…this has been one heck of week, but we wanted to make sure to keep you all up to date with the happenings!

We wanted to firstly congratulate our 11-12 Boys for their incredible swim at All Star Relays last night! The boys finished fourth in the 100M Medley Relay with another new team record of 1:03.79. The storms that came in afterwards cancelled the rest of the meet, so they didn’t get a chance to swim the 100M Free Relay, but per NVSL rules they were declare the winners due to theirs being the fastest seed time of the event! Congratulations, Taran, William, Franklin, and Lawrence on representing Burke Station and being the first BKS team (that we know of) to place first in NVSL All Star Relays!

OK…now for some upcoming events.

IM Carnival – Thursday, July 11 (Today) at 6:00 pm at BSSC

Tonight is IM Carnival, and all families with swimmers in the meet should have heard from us regarding your entrance in the meet. This is a super fun and fast meet with four other local pools with (unofficial) points on the line, so we’re really looking forward to it! The meet sheet is attached.

We are asking that all families with swimmers in the meet assist us with setup when the pool closes at 5:00 pm (our warmups start at 5:10 pm). With everyone pitching in, setup should go really quickly!

VOLUNTEERS: We still need one concessions salesperson and one marshal, so please sign up if you are available to help!

Pasta Night and Car Decorating Pep Rally – Friday, July 12 at 6:00 pm at BSSC

Tomorrow is our second annual Pasta Night at the swim club! Come out and join us for a delicious dinner of pasta, meatballs (for those who indulge), salad, and garlic bread! We’re holding this in the community room and outside, if the weather permits.

This BKS fundraising event is open to all, so feel free to invite your friends and neighbors! Cash and credit accepted.

If the weather holds, we will be decorating cars in preparation for Saturday’s meet during/after pasta night!

A Meet Saturday, July 13 at Lake Braddock

This Saturday is our last dual meet of the season (NO WAY!), this time away at Lake Braddock. We’re looking to go out strong and finish the season 5-0 and solidify ourselves as the winners of Division 15, so this is a big, big meet!

Where: A reminder that there are two pools in the Lake Braddock community and that this meet will be held at the pool located at 9528 Ashbourn Drive.

When: Swimmers should arrive by 8:00 am to be ready for our warmups, which will start at 8:20 am. Swimmers should come dressed in their suits and their standard “meet gear” (cap, goggles, towel, water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray).

Weather: Weather is looking OK (if a bit showery), if there are any weather delays (thunder or hard rain), we will communicate those via the SwimTopia app.

Volunteers: We are all set on volunteers, but if you cannot make it, please email us to let us know! Just a reminder, all on-deck volunteers must follow the NVSL dress code and wear white tops and blue bottoms.
