'Meet Week" 4: B Meet Recap and A (Senior) Meet Prep!
Hey everyone!
We’re in the middle of the craziest part of the season, and we appreciate the help that all of you have provided to get us through it! We’re at the tail end of four home meets in a row, with IM Carnival to follow next week, but we’re almost there!
B Meet v. Holmes Run Wrap Up
Monday night’s B Meet with Holmes Run was one of the quickest we’ve had in ages. As we’ve seen all season, we had great swims and lots of “Hollywood Stars” fun, and it was fantastic that the kids had the chance to dance all four of our signature dances after the meet! We also had six “rookie” swims last night, with Transition group swimmers Taylor Kasman, Jack Beigh, Charli Beegle, Charlotte Williams, Henry Angstadt, and Scarlett Grace Fullen all swimming in their first-ever meets!
Below is a list of the remainder of this week’s events
Ice Cream Social – Friday, July 5 at 6:00 pm at BSSC
This is one of the most anticipated pep rallies of the season! Not only do we have ice cream available for swimmers and families, but this is also the say when the kids turn their coaches not human sundaes! This is a long-standing BKS tradition, and one your kids will not want to miss!
Meet set up will be taking place at around 7:45 pm (depending on the number of Members at the Swim Club). 15-18 families will be responsible for set up this week.
A Meet (Senior Meet) Saturday, July 6 at Home v. Fox Mill Estates
We’re hosting Fox Mill Estates at BSSC this Saturday at 9:00 am. This battle of 3-0 teams is our final home dual meet of the year. Meet details are below - we will send out the meet sheet when we get it tomorrow.
Where: Home at Burke Station Swim Club. The theme this weekend is “Red, White, and Blue” so (belatedly) celebrate the Fourth of July by dressing in your most patriotic attire! This is also our Senior Meet, during which we will recognize our five “non-Danny” senior swimmers: Megan Lincicum, Andrew O’Kane, Brandon Fleming, Ben Tuininga, and Alex Perry!
When: Swimmers should be in the team area at 7:45 am and ready for warmups, which will begin at 8:00 am. Swimmers should come dressed in their suits and equipped with everything they’ll need for the meet (cap, goggles, towel, water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray)!
Weather: It’s going to be seasonably toasty, but any storms should hold off until the afternoon, but, as always, if there are any weather delays (thunder or hard rain), we will communicate those via the SwimTopia app.
Volunteers: Concessions volunteers, please check in with Alexis. Timers should check in with our head timer, Jed Perry. Other on-deck officials check in with Deirdre. Just a reminder, all on-deck volunteers must follow the NVSL dress code and wear white tops and blue bottoms.
Meet breakdown will be handled by the 8&U families at approximately 11:30 am.
If you are scheduled to swim and cannot attend for any reason, please text Matt (703-403-7050) or Mike (720-235-6850) so that we can scratch your swimmer.
Other Reminders
Fourth of July Practice will take place at 9:00 am for all Destroyers swimmers (there will be no Junior Destroyers or Transition practice on the Fourth). This will be an optional fun event in which the whole team will take part!
Friday Morning Breakfast: We still have a few unfilled slots for this Friday’s breakfast (8&U Drinks and 13-18 Drinks). Please head over to the Friday Breakfast SignupGenius to pick a slot to provide
