Hi BKS Families!

Here we are, 2.5 weeks into the meet season and the time is flying by (as it always does)! It’s been an incredible start to the season so far and we can’t wait to see what the last few weeks brings!

As the subject of this email indicates, we’re now planning our Burke Station Winter Swim program. This is all done through the Fairfax County Park Authority, and we would love to have another session at either Audrey Moore or South Run Rec Centers to keep our kids swimming together each week until next summer. We can’t stress enough how beneficial this has been to our non-club and younger swimmers, as keeping them in the water for just one hour per week makes a huge difference when they come back for the summer. Not only has this paid huge dividends for our summer success the past couple seasons, but it also keep the kids in the pool with their friends during our “offseason”!

We've created a 2024-2025 Winter Swim Family Feedback form to track interest, as well as the preferred days and times for swimming this winter, across the team. If you're interested, please fill this out as soon as possible. If you're not interested, there's no need to complete it, but it would be helpful for us to get as many responses as possible. Filling out the form is not a commitment, but we would hope that most everyone indicating interest would sign up.

Please provide your feedback by Wednesday, July 3, so we can submit our request by the July 5 deadline set by Fairfax County for lane preferences. We aren't guaranteed to get our preferred days and times, but we'll do our best to get them.

Our intent is to keep the cost the same as last year - $300 for September through May - but the only way we can guarantee that is to have a good estimate of swimmers so we can request the appropriate number of lanes. Please note that all swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool on their own, as we generally have more kids in each lane in the winter than we do in the summer and it's difficult for the coaches to keep track of all of them at once.

As with last year, we are giving preference to families swimming this summer season. If you know of any "non-Destroyers families" you know might be interested, feel free to send them our way and we can chat with them about getting them signed up! That said, we'll only open up outside registration if we have spots available after summer swimmers register.
