BKS April Updates!

April 20th

Hello Everyone!

If you haven’t seen it already, our pool was filled earlier this week, which means that the swim season is TRULY around the corner and that we’ll see you all at the pool soon!

We are incredibly excited by the amazing response to our early registration drive. We currently have 13 new swimmers registered (88 total) from six new families, which is absolutely fantastic at this point in April! To those of you who have registered for the season, thank you so much. And to those who haven’t yet registered…we hope to see those Swimtopia confirmation emails soon! ;o)

Parent Meeting

Mark your calendars for this year’s Parent Meeting, which is taking place on Saturday, May 18 (exactly four weeks away!). Kona Ice will be making an appearance at 4:30pm (this is open to everyone - not just swim team families), followed by swimsuit try-ons at 5:00, and eventually the Parent Meeting at 5:30. We hope to see everyone there…and if you know of any families who might be on the fence about joining the team, please encourage them to attend and learn more about us!

Team Suits

Speaking of team suits…they are available at Metro Swim Store. Thanks to those of you who have already picked them up! As mentioned above, Metro will be onsite at the Parent Meeting with suits; however, to avoid delays in receiving a suit, we highly recommend that you get your suit prior to the Parent Meeting.

You can also order your suits online if you already know your swimmer’s size by going to the Metro Swim BKS portal.

Volunteers NEEDED

We are trying to get a jump on our volunteer roles for this summer. If you are interested in serving in any of these ESSENTIAL volunteer positions, please complete the Google Form HERE so that we can keep track.

Junior Destroyer Coaches NEEDED

Just a reminder if you are 13 and older and interested in coaching the Junior Destroyers, please complete the Google Form HERE.

Getting an estimated number of coaches that are interested is very important because it will give us an idea of how many Juniors we can accept into the program.

New Coaches and Team Reps Contact Information

We have recently migrated to a new Google workspace, which has allowed us to create new email addresses specifically for coaches ([email protected]), team reps ([email protected]), and photographers ([email protected]). Please try to use these email addresses when reaching out to the appropriate parties so your inquiry can be responded to timely.

Sponsorships

We have already received numerous confirmations from some of our sponsors from previous seasons so thank you all very much for supporting BKS!

Pool Membership

Don’t forget…to be on the swim team, your family must have a membership at Burke Station Swim Club. If you haven’t done so already, please register HERE. For those that reside in BSCA, April 30th is the deadline to get the BSCA Member Rate.

Season Clean-Up Day

The annual Swim Club clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, May 18th starting at 1pm (prior to the Parent Meeting). We need as many hands as possible to get the Swim Club ready for opening day. More Info here.

Swim Club Opening Weekend

Burke Station Swim Club will open on Saturday, May 25. We’ll have more information later about what’s happening that day, but we’re tentatively planning to host a bake sale at the opening day event, so stock up on flour and sugar and warm up those ovens!

We mentioned in our last email that info would start flowing soon, so we hope we didn’t disappoint with this email ;) We hope we haven’t overwhelmed anyone, but there’s a lot to do and to coordinate before the season starts!

To all of our new families…we have all been there at one point and we know that it can be daunting, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or any concerns about anything related to the team or the season. We promise you’ll get the hang of it soon enough!
