Hi All-
What a fun meet last night! It was so great to see so many swimmers swimming IM (and 8&U Butterfly). A huge congrats to Joey Hanik for breaking the 8&U Boys 100 IM Record! Another congrats to Ben Tuininga for breaking his own record in 15-18 50 Breaststroke on Monday night!
We have one final dual meet before we enter the last week of the season! Tomorrow we head to Commonwealth for our final A Meet of the 2023 season. Below are all the details!
Team: Commonwealth Cudas
Location:9800 Commonwealth Blvd. Fairfax, VA 22032
Arrival Time: 8am. Warm-ups begin at 8:25am. Meet starts at 9am. Come dressed ready to swim! Bring caps, goggles, chairs, sunscreen and bug spray (we are in the grass).
Parking: There is a parking lot at Commonwealth accessible via Walport Lane, which is the street on the right before you get to their pool. Turn onto Walport and you'll see the entrance to the parking lot on the left. You'll walk through the path and up a small hill to the entrance of their pool.
Concessions: Full concessions! Bring money (cash) and come hungry!
Divisionals Prep
We have already started preparing for Divisionals entries. It is REALLY important that you go into swimtopia now and declare if your swimmer is able to swim at divisionals or not. Seeding for Divisionals is the two fastest swimmers in each event. We will be identifying these swimmers on Monday at practice. It is important to note that even though you may not be among the two fastest, we can still add swimmers as alternates. Since swimmers can only swim two events, oftentimes alternate swimmers will get into events so it is important that we know everyone's availability ASAP. The team reps meet Tuesday night to place swimmers in events. Therefore, families should know on Wednesday if your swimmer is swimming in Divisionals.
Divisonals/End of the Year Party
Divisionals will be held Saturday, July 22nd at Burke Station. Our meet theme is "Welcome to the Jungle!" We will need lots of volunteers to staff the event!
Later that evening, we’ll have our end of the year party where swimmers will receive their awards - you don’t want to miss it! Coaches make Paper Plate awards for each swimmer and it is truly one of the best parts of summer swim team! One of our sponsors has volunteered to provide pulled chicken, pulled pork, and Chick-fila-A nuggets so families will be asked to bring sides and desserts. Keep an eye out for the sign-up genius early next week!
