Relay Carnival Wrap Up
Destroyer Families,
Wow! Where to even begin! For those of you who do not know, BKS pulled off an incredible second place finish tonight at the relay carnival (tying with Commonwealth). So first of all, a huge round of applause to all the swimmers who competed tonight and made this possible! Any expectations we had going into tonight were blown out of the water. What an incredible team performance! Whether your swimmer and their relay finished first, or sixth, every single point was valuable tonight, and we could not have done it without each individual swimmer. In addition to the incredible performances in the pool, our team stood above the rest in terms of spirit, attitude, and kindness. As us coaches stood on deck, the only team we could hear from the parking lot were our Destroyers. Not only that, but all of our swimmers continued to show sportsmanship by shaking hands and congratulating the other teams across lanes. We are SO proud of ALL the hard work that the swimmers are putting in, and feel very thankful to have the opportunity to coach such an incredible group of kids.
Second, a huge thank you and round of applause to the swimmers and families who were not participating in the meet that attended solely to cheer on their fellow swimmers. The impact that those appearances have on the kids is unmatched, and without the support tonight we could not have accomplished what we did. As coaches, it means the world to know that you and your children are willing to come out of your way for this team. The atmosphere on deck tonight was incredible, and that is largely thanks to all of you! Thank you.
A meet cannot be run without our volunteers. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all of the volunteers that worked the meet tonight, none of the memories that were created for the kids tonight could exist without your hard work. A special shout-out to Jason and Mary Heron as well as Deirdre Daumit. The roles that you three take on at these meets are no small tasks, and we are so thankful to have you as a part of our Destroyer family.
Finally, while not every swimmer had the opportunity to be highlighted at the meet tonight, we could not be happier with how the team is performing as a whole. The swimmers that may not be participating in every meet are putting forth just as much effort and the hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed. The supportive environment that ALL of our swimmers contribute to at practice is what pushes our team to improve constantly. While we look to praise the swimmers that competed tonight, we do not hope to discourage the swimmers who did not. We are so proud of every kid on this team and the progress that we as a group are making each and every day. On that note, we will see you all in the morning to continue working hard. GO BKS!
