BSST Summer 2023 Registration

The cover is off the pool which can only mean one thing...summer is around the corner!
We are gearing up for the Summer 2023 season!
If you haven't heard, we moved up to Division 15 this summer and will be swimming against Lake Braddock, Rutherford, Annandale, Commonwealth, and Lincolnia Park! It's going to be a fun and competitive summer! Our schedule is already updated in SwimTopia so go ahead and mark your calendars!
Registration is now OPEN. Please be sure that in addition to registering for Swim Team, you are also registering for BSSC. It is an NVSL League rule that swimmers must be registered members of their team pool. Also, we are not accepting credit cards this summer. We know it is super convenient, however, there are some additional hoops we have to jump through when we accept credit cards. Payment for summer swim will be collected via cash or credit card at the parent meeting or first practice.
Suits & Swag
We have changed vendors this season to Metro Swim Shop. Our team suits for the summer will be a solid royal blue Jolyn/Finis with our team logo! You can stop by Metro Swim Shop at any time to try on suits OR attend our team fitting event on Saturday, May 6th from 5-7pm at Metro Swim Shop. This team fitting event is after hours so only our team will be present...no fighting others for fitting rooms! This is also a great time to stock up on equipment!
We are in the process of setting up swag! We will get that information out as soon as it is available!
Volunteers
Once again, we are in DESPERATE need for officials this summer. Please consider attending one of the NVSL Offical's training sessions for Stroke & Turn Judge or Starter. If you are already certified in these two roles, please also consider completing the Referee training.
We are also looking for someone to take over the role as our Concessions Chair. Erin Mulligan and Sarah Tremper have done an amazing job these last two years and they are ready to share their wealth of knowledge! These ladies will set you up for success with all of their notes from the past two seasons. It would be great if two people worked together for this role. This job is really important as this is where we make the bulk of our money (outside of registration fees) that pay for our coaches, team equipment, etc.
Transition Group
This summer we have added a "transition" group for swimmers (aged 9 & Under) who have surpassed Junior Destroyers, but do not have the stamina to jump right into the 8&U practice. Please note that you can sign your swimmer up for this group but there will be a formal assessment at the first practice to ensure that this is the proper placement for your child. If you are unsure of where to place your swimmer, please feel free to email us and we can send you in the right direction!
To participate in the "transition" group, the swimmer must be able to complete the following:
1. Jump in and swim the width of the deep end.
2. Be comfortable swimming with their face in the water.
3. Be able to float on their back for 15 seconds.
Junior Destroyers
You will notice there is only one session for Junior Destroyers this summer. Due to FCPS schedule and the end of NVSL season, there are only 5 weeks available for our Junior Destroyers.
That should be enough information to get us started for now :).
