A- Meet Debrief, B-Meet Sign-up Due 7/11 @11am
Hello!
Yesterday's meet started off a bit rocky, but we are so proud of how the swimmers turned it around and refocused on our races and sportsmanship! Among the many other outstanding swims, there were a couple that need mentioning: Adrian Curameng's 30-second drop in 50 backstroke and Peyton Tremper holding off Commonwealth's 11-12 Girls Relay for the win! Let's keep this momentum rolling for our last week of regular season meets!
B-Meet MONDAY, July 11th, @ Camelot
Once again, show up with your spirit in Burke Station Team Shirts or Blue/Gold colors.
Event Signup:Signup for the two strokes + IM is now available in Swimtopia. Please complete your event signup by Monday, July 11th at 11AM so that data can print cards for that evening. Just a reminder, you cannot swim in an event you placed first, second, or third in at the A-Meet today (see attached meet results if you are unsure of your places).
Where: 3604 Balin Court, Annandale VA. Parking lot address for GPS is 3705 Camelot Dr. Annandale VA Parking: Lots of details here-
- Our pool bylaws state that there is to be no parking on or pulling into Balin Court cul-de-sac (with the exception of you pulling in with any equipment, tents) and handicap needs.
- Parents can drop swimmers off at the entrance to Balin Court if they so desire, but there will be a Parking Marshall at the entrance to Balin Court directing them to continue on.
- Our parking lot is located on Camelot Drive, across and to the right from where it meets Saxony Drive (3705 Camelot Dr would work for plugging into GPS) From the parking lot there is a long and very steep path that leads up to CCC. Could be difficult for elderly or those with mobility issues. There will be a Marshall and signage helping direct traffic in that direction.
- Street parking is allowed (with the exception of Balin Court) but we ask that drivers follow Fairfax County regulations which include not parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant and/or 10 feet of a driveway. Our Camelot Drive neighbors reserve the right to alert FCPD and request for a car to be ticketed. Parking along Camelot Drive fills up quickly so we recommend telling families to use the parking lot.
What to Bring: The usual- chairs (there will be minimal provided from the host team), suit, towel, cap, googles, sunscreen, bug spray.
Volunteers: We still need help in Clerk of Course and SIX TIMERS!! Please take a moment and signup if you are available.Wednesday, July 13th IM CARNIVAL @ HOME
This is a quick meet that starts with warm-ups at 5:00PM and a 6:30PM Start. We are hosting this meet and will need to fill volunteer slots- especially in Concessions! This is a great meet to work if you need credits- it usually runs 1.5 hours in total! Volunteer slots will be up later today! Data is working on entries and we should be able to notify families if their swimmer is swimming by Monday evening.
Friday, July 15th- PANCAKE BREAKFAST & ICE CREAM SOCIAL
We always do a pancake breakfast for swimmers on the last friday of the regular season. If you would like to come down to the pool house during your swimmer's practice and help manage the feast, it would be greatly appreciated! We always need help making the pancakes, assisting with toppings, and cleaning up :).
Friday at 6:00PM we will start our final and MOST anticipated pep rally before our last home meet. At this pep rally, our coaches will be sitting in plastic baby pools while the swimmers take turns making them into HUMAN SUNDAES! We will also be selling Ice Cream for $1/scoop so come and have dessert and support your swim team! This event is open to the community so please encourage family, friends, and neighbors who are pool members (or guests) to come and support the team!
What Happens Next?!
Since we have a lot of new families, we wanted to give you a brief breakdown of how things go after Saturday's HOME A Meet as this will conclude our regular season. Saturday, July 23rd is our DIVISIONAL Meet. This meet consists of the top 2 swimmers from each A meet team (Saturday morning meets) in each event. Per usual, swimmers are only allowed to swim in 2 events- swimmers choose the events they want to swim. Because we are a lower division, some teams may not be able to fill those two lanes and we may be able to squeeze in additional swimmers as "alternates." The team reps from each of the six teams, along with the Division Coordinator, sit in a very exciting and lengthy meeting where we hand seed each event. Therefore, we usually do not know what/if swimmers are swimming until the evening of Wednesday, July 20th. It is imperative that you indicate in Swimtopia your swimmer's availability for Divisionals by Sunday, July 17th so that we can start preparing for this meeting.
Feel free to reach out to us or the coaches with any questions regarding Divisionals- it can be a bit confusing, especially for our new families!
After Season Party & Awards
The evening of Divisionals- July 23rd, we will have a giant pot-luck party at Burke Station Pool to celebrate all of our coaches and swimmers (and special volunteers) hard work! It is a night you definitely do NOT want to miss!
