A Meet Debrief, B-Meet Sign-up Due 7/5 @11am

July 3rd

Hello Destroyers-

I'm not sure what was in the water, but we had some insane time drops at today’s meet! Everyone should be so proud of their swims! We also saw some fantastic sportsmanship with hand shakes and fist bumps between our swimmers and our friends from Ilda. Hopefully everyone's ears have stopped ringing from the constant tamborine shaking :).

We have a BUSY week this week, so please pay close attention to the details below:

Monday: No Practice...enjoy your 4th of July!!

Tuesday: We will return to the water just in time to prep for our meet Tuesday night against our neighbors, Lake Braddock (more details below).

Wednesday: We will have practice in the morning to prepare for Relay Carnival @ Commonwealth Wednesday evening. We will be sending out a separate email for swimmers participating in this meet soon!

Thursday: Coaches from the year-round swim team FISH will be leading practice for swimmers 9 & Older. We have several swimmers who swim for FISH during the winter (and summer!). This is a great opportunity for those of you exploring swim options for the winter. In addition to their competitive program, FISH offers a winter conditioning program once a week for swimmers who want to continue working on their stroke technique but do not want to participate in meets.

Friday: Laser Tag & Glow Golf at Shadowland @5:00PM. Please reach out to Alexis if you are interested in attending the Laser Tag/Glow Golf Pep Rally on Friday, July 8th and have not RSVP'ed. If you haven't already, please pay Alexis via cash, check, or Venmo (@Alexis-Bridley; last 4 digits 9560) before the pep rally this Friday.

B-Meet TUESDAY, July 5th, @ Lake Braddock

Due to the holiday, our next B meet will be on TUESDAY, July 5th. We do not have a theme for this meet since it is away, so feel free to show your team spirit with your Burke Station Team Shirts or Blue/Gold colors.

Event Signup: Signup for the two strokes + IM is now available in Swimtopia. **This may be your last chance to swim IM before IM Carnival on 7/13. If you are interested in participating in this fun, fast meet, we encourage you to sign up for IM. Please complete your event signup by Tuesday, July 5th at 11AM so that data can print cards for that evening. Just a reminder, you cannot swim in an event you placed first, second, or third in at the A-Meet today (see attached meet results if you are unsure of your places).

Where: Lake Braddock 9528 Ashbourn Dr. Burke, VA 22015

Parking: There is ample parking at Ashbourn pool. There is neighborhood parking should the pool lot fill up- please be mindful of the neighbors and do not block driveways or park in cul de sacs.

When: Tuesday, July 5th. Please arrive at 5:00PM ready to swim. We will have second warm-ups since we are the visiting team.

What to Bring: The usual- suit, towel, cap, googles, sunscreen, bug spray...we encourage everyone to bring chairs in case seating is limited.

Volunteers: Please check in Swimtopia to see if additional volunteers are needed. We usually run a bit thin this week due to families traveling for the holiday.
